Decorating Tip: How To Hang Picture Collages

Capturing happy moments in life is so much fun. Whether you’re traveling, attending a family gathering, celebrating holidays, or having portraits taken, displaying these special memories creates a warm and welcoming feel in a home. The process of framing and hanging these photos may be overwhelming, allowing a little procrastination to set in. So today we’re sharing tips to help make this process feel a bit more simplified (and doable!) without losing any sleep over it.

The first step is to determine what style of framing collage you are drawn to or that fits within your space - room - wall. After that, these guides below will help you sail right through! THE GRID

A grid style is clean and simple. The important key to achieving this look is to make sure all of your frames are the same. The picture openings may vary, but the frame itself needs to be the same throughout The Grid.

Hanging a column picture collage is an elegant way to fill a narrow wall. By using different frame styles or shapes it creates a unique focal interest. There are two keys to this concept. The first is creating a pattern with the sizes. The second is using frames that speak to each other. In the example above you can see that they are all a narrow brushed gold frame.

The gallery style is quite often the most classic way to hang pictures. There are a couple options to make this look. The first is using all the same frame, but in different sizes. The second is using different frames in different sizes…but, the frames have to speak to each other. They need to have a similar style in the same finish.

A minimalist approach to achieve an art gallery aesthetic is hanging the same frame horizontally along a wall or hallway. This is similar to The Grid, but with only one row.
